Cranford Gas Light founders John Fleming and Wayne Williamson started their careers at Elizabethtown Gas Company in 1993. They started in the service department which at that time encompassed everything from gas leak investigation, meter turn on and turn offs, meter installations, and repairing various heating equipment. Due to deregulation, Elizabethtown Gas company split the service department from the operations department. This meant that the service department would primarily service and install natural gas equipment. In 2005, John and Wayne ventured out on their own to meet the needs of their former company Elizabethtown gas with the formation of Cranford Gas Light. From 2005-2019 the pair expanded their company by performing gas fitting and appliance relight work for ETG’s underground gas contractors as well as HVAC work in New Jersey. In 2019, Cranford Gas Light joined forces with pipeline contractor Skoda Contracting to meet newly established regulatory laws. Cranford Gas now performs inside to outside meter relocation services, all of the associated pipework, and meter spotting services for Skoda Contracting. Skoda and Cranford have worked closely together for over a decade and the cultures of safety, diligence, and honesty were a perfect fit.
